About the project
The FMD/CSF Coordination Action is an EU-funded project that will gather and share information relevant to the control of two of the most important OIE listed diseases, foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and classical swine fever (CSF), both of which have caused devastating outbreaks of disease in Europe and continue to pose a serious threat. The project will focus upon the coordination of research, global disease surveillance, risk analysis, vaccine reserves, diagnostics, laboratory preparedness, control policies including vaccination and wild boar issues, and will initiate new collaborations. The main benefits of the Coordination Action (CA) are: • Better coordination between National Reference Laboratories, within and outside Europe, and with international animal health organisations; • Better and more efficient collaborations within this network and with other scientists based at other centres and academic institutes; • Improved management structure; • Improved stakeholder involvement in the scientific and technical developments.
