Nomenclature Working Group Members

The current members of the Nomenclature Working Group are:

World Reference Laboratory for Foot-and-Mouth Disease (WRLFMD), UK

Kasia obtained an MSc in Biotechnology in Poland and continued pursuing her interests in infectious diseases by undertaking PhD studies on the molecular epidemiology (how the disease spreads) of African horse sickness virus at The Pirbright Institute and the University of Oxford. Kasia has also worked on projects focusing on molecular epidemiology of Bluetongue virus and Capripox virus, and she developed molecular typing tools for African horse sickness virus.

As a Post-Doctoral scientist, Kasia’s particular interests focus on molecular epidemiology and characterisation of Foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV). Her current projects include molecular characterisation of contemporary stains of FMDV, development of tailored type-specific molecular tests and investigation of molecular bases of FMDV vaccine matching. In addition, Kasia is a member of the Virus Nomenclature Working Group of the OIE/FAO FMD Laboratory Network, supervises PhD students and is an active STEM ambassador.
