Starting in 2016, to date, an FMD serotype O event has been occurring in the province of Xinjiang. 4 outbreaks, affecting cattle and sheep, have been reported. Clinical cases and mortality have involved cattle. The event is continuing. See event summary and map at http://www.oie.int/wahis_2/public/wahid.php/Reviewreport/Review/viewsummary?reportid=21691. In this same province an FMD serotype A was also identified, this event was resolved. See report at http://www.oie.int/wahis_2/public/wahid.php/Reviewreport/Review/viewsummary?reportid=23862

In 2017, FMD outbreaks due to serotype O were reported in the provinces of Tibet (1), Guangdong (3), and Guizhou (3). The affected species involved cattle, goats, sheep, and pigs with cases and deaths registered in cattle, goats, and pigs. This event is continuing.
