Tabarka: Cattle deaths due to foot-and-mouth disease
----------------------------------------------------
The head of the Local Union of Agriculture and Fisheries in Tabarka, Hakim Rouissi, confirmed today [18 Mar 2025] the death of 3 cattle due to foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and the detection of 25 cases of infection in Ain Sobah district, including 14 cases in Douar El Balh.
He explained that the spread of the disease is due to delays in the vaccination process, which resulted from a lack of coordination between the Animal Production Department and the Agriculture Union. This led to some cattle farmers missing the vaccination campaign.
The same source called on the Ministry of Agriculture to expedite the vaccination process in coordination with the Agriculture Union to prevent the further spread of the disease, especially since all detected cases so far are limited to the Ain Sobah district.
